How to Look Younger

10 tips for women on how to maintain youthful looks

Nowadays both men and women appreciate physical beauty, as long as it is not used to stereotype people. Thruthfully though, beauty is more important to women, and as such is appreciated by both sexes. When you're young, being beutiful comes easy. But with age, it takes more effort to maintain good looks.

Keep your good looks, no matter what is your age
When you're young, good looks come easily - in later years, it takes some effort,
but you can still look good in later years.

Make yourself look your best

Appearance is very important, as it is the first thing you notice when you meet someone. As you grow older, the body starts to let you down. But there are a few things that you can do to preserve your good looks. Some of these ideas are very simple, while others require a bit of work. In the end, they all help somewhat to turn back the clock and make you look younger.

1. Stand up straight

One of the best ways to look younger and more confident is to stand up straight. This means standing straight with your shoulders back and down and tummy pulled in. At first you will need to practice this and check yourself in the mirror, or against the wall. It might even feel unnatural at first, as we get used to wrong posture. But soon it will be come second nature. Doing exercises to strengthen your tummy muscles will also help.

2. Get enough sleep

We all know how sleep is important, not only to look better, but also for general health. Having enough sleep, at least 7 to 8 hours a night will make you feel healthier and younger. Your body needs sleep so that it can repair your body cells and refresh you mind.

Good sleep is healthy and refreshing
Getting enough sleep is not only essential for good health and clear mind,
but also helps the body rejuvenate while you sleep.

3. Smile

Smiling makes you look radiant and younger. A good smile also distracts from areas that show your age. When you smile, you whole face changes, for better. Try standing in front of a mirror and see what a good smile can do for your face.

4. Choose a good hairstyle

Just because you are older, or feel like it, it does not necessarily mean that you have to have a short haircut. It all depends on the shape of your face, a short hairstyle can be cut to frame your face and be flattering. This can be great to draw attention away from signs of ageing. Though longer hairstyles can be just as flattering, as long as you have a good haircut that is shaped and maybe layered. A good hairdresser should be able to advise on the best way to cut your hair, as it does not just depend on the shape of your face but also on the texture and volume of your hair.

Choose hairstyle that suits your look
Don't just choose your hairstyle because of your age - talk to your hairdresser
and choose the style that makes you look your best.

5. Colouring your hair

Colouring your hair is also a great way to hide those grey hairs. It is best to choose a colour that is close to your original colour, so that it naturally compliments your facial tones. Otherwise you can have high lights or low lights put into your hair, and these do not require re-doing as frequently as an all over colour does.

6. Compliment your body with clothes

Choose the right clothes to compliment your body and hide the areas that you do not like. For example if you have flabby arms you can wear three quarter length sleeves to hide them. Soft colours will help you look younger because your skin tones become greyer as you get older.

7. Clean your teeth

When you smile, the first thing people notice are your teeth. Keep your teeth clean, with brushing and flossing, and with regular visits to the dentist to have them checked. Getting teeth cleaned to prevent plague build up can also save you losing teeth unnecessarily. Oral hygiene is also very important for the overall health. If your teeth are discoloured, the dentist might suggest whitening them, so that you will be happy to smile and show off your teeth.

8. Lose weight

There are multiple benefits from losing weight, including feeling better, more confident and of course healthier. But losing weight can also help you look younger. Make sure that you combine your weight loss with aerobic and resistance exercises, to tone your body and prevent flabbs.

Exercising is the best way to lose weight, look good, build your stamina,
and maintain your health and feel great.

9. Use make-up in moderation

It goes without saying that properly applied make-up will help you good looks. As long as you don't cake it on. Use a light foundation that does not sink into the wrinkles and emphasise them too much. Be careful about which eyeshadows to use, as cream ones will sink into your wrinkles.

10. Care for your skin

Look after your skin. Do not clean your face with soap and water. Instead, use a proper cleanser, so that it dissolves all the make-up on the face and cleanses it properly. Always make sure that you remove your make-up every night, as one night leaving it on can age your skin eight days. After cleaning your skin, make sure that you moisture it so that it keeps your skin hydrated and younger looking.

With the above ten tips on how to look younger, you should start implementing those that appeal to you the most. Choose a couple of these ideas, implement them and see what changes they make in your appearance. If they prove to be successful and work for you, that will motivate you to venture further and do more. Being only human, we all get motivated by positive results. Why not use it to your advantage to look your best and feel great!
